Geneva Lake Shore Path

Pat has wanted to hike Geneva Lake so today, with absolutely perfect temps and no humidity, we started the journey and selected a 5.5 mile hike along the south shore. Here are a few pics but honestly - it's an amazing, beautiful, refreshing and special journey you need to see yourself as I cannot take enough pics to do the scenery justice.

Today's leg of the shore path started from the Linn Road boat launch, heading west towards Fontana and our reward - lunch & Spotted Cows at Gordies!!

The Shore Path (or lake path as we always called it) was originally an Indian Footpath and in order for this path to remain for public use a county ordinance was set. For lakefront owners who fought the right of way, the city had historical relevance to rest upon. The shore path is unique to Geneva Lake. I know of no other place that allows unfettered access onto private property.

To hike the entire tour around the lake, plan about 14 hours. We clocked off 3.5 hours. We're now hooked on making the entire journey ...

The Path is marked well in most places ...

Must be tough living here with these views ...

The path meanders always close to the water ...

One of many beautiful places ...the homes, the gardens, the water, the boats ...

Someone's pier and sailboat just waiting to get busy ...

Most homes have a flower garden incorporated into the land ...

Yep, one of the mansions and there are planety but here are also some really classic original properties ...

Pat taking a quick break ...

More scenery ..

The path is very, very cool ...

Our ending point for today, Fontana, and the place was absolutely jumpin!

Next plan - the 10 mile hike from Fontana to Lake Geneva. Join us, you will NOT be disappointed!!
