Getting Away

Headed to La Valle for a quick getaway at the Guss-Retreat. Saturday temperatures in early 40's and with very little snow, the lake is one massive ice-skating pond which is where we took off for an afternoon hike ...

Plenty of people (and cars!) on the lake. A young boy and his Dad were spending the day (from Racine) and the boy was so proud to show us his catch...

Right in the center of this picture is the Guss House. Really cool as it sits up in the treeline slghtly yet high enough it looks over the houses right on the lake shore...

Ted maneuvering as he hiked with his ski/snowshoe poles which was smart to bring along since the warmer temps had the surface a bit wet & slippery ...

Sunday morning we enjoyed a warm house, great sunrise view, hot coffee, a game of domino's and watching as the fishermen slowly venture on the lake with their "huts" .... overnight the temperature fell to 6-degrees!!! ...
