Okay, so it's raining periodically, chilly, fog comes on & off the mountain, the trail is muddy from days of rain, the 3+mile climb uphill is a challenge where there are times we're sweating and other parts where the chilly winds have us reaching for our gloves. We reach the summit and due to conditions we can't see anything so we turn around, hike the 3+ miles back off the mountain using a completely different set of muscles - exhausted by the end, we had an absolute blast!
Nice stream where I proceded to step off a rock and submerge my right-boot...and this was just as we got started...oh well, not stopping here!!

The team taking a break to refuel and continue the climb...Here's the profile of Grandfather Mountain...
Along the way here is one of the views - great colors even in the cloudyness & rain...
The boys posing for their Mom.....good friends and having a great time together...
Great way to spend the afternoon with our boys...yet exhausting.
